Where these songs came from
From 2003 to 2009 I was the singer-songwriter for a Lehigh University–based acoustic rock band called Summit. We played Lehigh frat houses, were regulars at infamous South Bethlehem venues like The Funhouse and The Wildflower Cafe, and occasionally ventured out to play other colleges or clubs in the region. We released two albums, Vertiginous and Predictably Grey.
When Summit broke up in 2009, I began gathering songs that never made it onto a Summit record, along with some new ideas, for a solo EP I planned to release in 2010.
In July 2010 I took a role for work in Barcelona, Spain. I relocated my home studio and kept working on the EP there, but life and work got in the way, and in time I stopped writing and recording altogether. The songs stayed where they were: a handful of demos, scraps of recordings in Pro Tools, and a notebook of lyrics and chords.
In 2026 I picked them back up. With AI production tools I could finally finish them. Some are the songs as I wrote them, now fully produced. Others were sketches and concepts, which have now been brought to life.
The new versions were built mainly in Suno, starting from the old demos and Pro Tools scraps, with a bit of GarageBand along the way. The vocals use a model of my voice made from my other recordings, and I mastered the record in LANDR.
The record closes with three of those home-studio demos, left as they were, so you can hear where the songs started.
